At the end of the third year of the implementation of
the Reducing the Dropout of Roma Children of School Program, financially
supported by the America for BulgariaFoundation, Amalipe Center held a
three-day meeting with parents from 51 schools, included in the Program.
Parents at the
workshop were representatives ofdifferent types of schools, located in towns and
villages inthe countryside.
The majority
of them were Roma parents and whatunited them all was their care for reducing
dropout of Roma children from school and improving the quality of their
education.

helping others. For the first time parents were acquainted with the other
schools in the program - 174 in total, which have also formedParental clubs.
Their future contacts will enable them toshare their experiences and practices
that lead to the achievement of good results in the education of children.
From 16 to
18 July 2013, in a close to 'real life' atmosphere Theodora Krumova and Deyan
Kolev in an innovative, modern and attractive way discussed the following
issues:
- Do
parents realize their role and responsibility fortheir children’s regular
attendance at school.
- Are
the parents acquainted to the Program, which includes 174 schools?
- What
is the role of team work in school life.
- What
to keep and what to change in the organization and management in schools.
- To
what extent the parents take the challenge to defend their right to participate
and to take responsibility in school life.
- How
the parents would be useful for the implementation of theparents educate
parentsmethod.
The workshop
achieved its purpose and unite the findings, ideas and people representing
different parent clubs and moderators of the community centers, created by
Amalipe in eleven municipalities. That was a positive effect of two consecutive
mutual training sessions.
The team of
Amalipe Center wished the parents nice and gracious summer, reminded them to be
cautious about how their children spend their free time when the family is away
from home and also foster grandparents who have assumed the hard responsibility
to raise their children while the parents are working abroad.
Deyan Kolev,
Theodora Krumova and educational staff of the Centre, gave the word ":,,
We'll help everyone, because we have a common goal – all the best for our children
today and in the future!"
