  UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances to review  Mexico, Armenia and Serbia

GENEVA (26 January 2015) – Mexico, Armenia and Serbia are due to be reviewed for the first time by the UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED), which is meeting in Geneva from 2 to 13 February.  

The Committee, which is composed of 10 international independent human rights experts, monitors implementation of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance. Mexico, Serbia and Armenia are among the current 44 States Parties to the Convention and so are required to submit a report for review to the Committee.

The sessions will be as follows (local Geneva time):

Mexico: 11:30 - 13:00 and 15:00 - 18:00 on 2 February; 10:00 - 13:00 on 3 February
Armenia: 15:00 to 18:00 on 3 February; 10:00 to 13:00 on 4 February
Serbia: 15:00 to 18:00 on 4 February; from 10:00 to 13:00 on 5 February
Location: Ground Floor Conference Room, Palais Wilson, Geneva

The Committee will hold constructive dialogues with the respective State delegations and also hear from NGOs and national human rights institutions.
